• Notes. Hanss Michael Schlaeber ( name above as it appears on the birth record, but also spelled Johann Michael, Schlaber, Schleber) was born during the Thirty Year War in Lembach, Alsace, which at the time of his birth was part of the Holy Roman Empire of German Nations.
Above date is the baptism date. Document on the upper left is the registration of baptism in the Lembach church book.
Original text:
Michael Schlaeber, der Wagner u. sein eheliche Hausfrau Anna Margaretha.
Arbogast, Heinrich ? p.m. ehelicher Sohn, Hans Schlaeber, Buerger. Magdalena, Wendelius Schmidens , Buergers, eheliche Hausfrau.
Translation in English:
Michael Schlaeber, the wagoner, and his lawful wife Anna Margaretha.
(sponsors) Arbogast, the late Heinrich ? legitimate son, Hans Schlaeber, citizen. Magdalena, wife of citizen Wendelius Schmid. ( Name of christened child ) Hanss - Michael

Hanss Michael married Anna Maria Seelig, d/o Goerg Seelig, on July 13, 1651, in Mattstall, Alsace.
They had at least three children together. Known children are: Anna Catharina, born in Mattstall 1657, and twins Hanss Nickel, and Anna Dorothea, born 22 Feb 1660, also in Mattstall.
Hanss Michael's first wife must have died at or soon after the birth of the twins.

Second marriage of Hanss Michael was to Anna Mang, daughter of Jacob Mang, on 24 February 1661, in Mattstall.
'Michael Schlaber, citizen of Mattstall, and virgin Anna, Jacob Mang's , at this time citizen of Drachenbronn, legitimate daughter.' (marriage record is in middle section of second document on memorial.)
A daughter, Anna Maria, was born to them on 23 September 1661, in Mattstall.
Sponsors at the christening were Wendel Trautmann, and Veronica, Martin Frick's the carpenter's wife.
Records show that Anna Maria, daughter of Michael Schlaeber lived until the age of 60, however a cross appears beside her baptism record in the church book, which could mean that her mother died giving birth to her.
Both Michael, as well as his wife Anna disappear from the Mattstall and Lembach parish registers completely after the birth of their daughter.
Since deaths were not recorded until 1699, it is not known how, when, and where Hanss Michael Schlaeber died, or where he is buried.
