!MISC: He worked in the mines of Colorado in 1864 and 1865. Later he was
a farmer and owned 154 acres in Hardin County. He was a Democrat in politics
and was Trustee and School Director. He and his wife Hester Ann Garlinger lived
very near John J. Garlinger and Horatio Garlinger. After the death of Horatio's
widow Catherine MORRISON Garlinger in 1870, Several of Horatio's children often
stayed with David and Hester Ann McElroy. There is a brief Biographical Sletch
on Page 1014 of Hardin County History.
David married Hesther Ann Garlinger, daughter of William Garlinger and Christina Anhart, on 17 Feb 1856 in , Hardin, Ohio. (Hesther Ann Garlinger was born on 1 Jan 1837 in Schellsburg, Bedford, Pennsylvania, died on 28 Jul 1898 in Liberty Twp., Hardin, Ohio and was buried in McElroy Cemetary, Hardin, Ohio.)
