He married Linda Lou Moore in Redkey, Randolph, Indiana, 30 June 1968. Linda was born in Geneva, Adams, Indiana 5 January 1947. Linda was the daughter of Russell Moore and Helen Lucille Myers.

Jerry Lee Hopkins and Linda Lou Moore had the following children:

2 i. Lisa Kay² Hopkins was born in Portland, Jay, Indiana 31 October 1968. Lisa died 31 October 1968 in Portland, Jay, Indiana, at less than one year of age.

3 ii. Sherry Lee Hopkins was born in Portland, Jay, Indiana 5 February 1970. She married Derek May 1988.

4 iii. Angela Kay Hopkins was born in Portland, Jay, Indiana 15 May 1972.

5 iv. John Russell Hopkins was born in Portland, Jay, Indiana 15 December 1973. He married Shauna Renee Abel in Union City, Randolph, Indiana, 1 May 1993.

6 v. Monica Sue Hopkins was born 19 December 1978.

7 vi. Jeffrey Allen Hopkins was born 11 March 1984.
